Actually this could have been not that bad. I mean the entire HP sotryline would be non-existant, but I mean, Lily could have made Snape a pretty decent guy. Their kids would look quite awful, but still, after DH....

I voted against this on the basis that he should be mine, mine I tell you.
In all seriosuness though I think if Lily had loved him back he would have been totally different. He would still have been secretive and suspicious because of how hs parents were but I think his obsession Lily would have made him a totally different man. Losing her messed him up beyond all repair, she was his focus for everything. He really couldn't see past her and I think if that was healthily channelled he would have been a decent chap.
But she clearly needed someone like James, someone as open and friendly and kind as she was. She needed someone to shine with, not for.
